About the Sensory Trail

The trail has been created to enable visitors to explore the nature reserve and its wildlife in a ‘less conventional’ way.

There are eight carved oak sculptures waiting to be discovered, celebrating the decaying wood habitat that helps make this ancient woodland so important for wildlife.

Get hands-on and explore the wonderful textures carved in the wood by artist Nick Garnett. Each sculpture is accompanied by a small sign with a QR code. Use this to discover each species, its name and fascinating details about it.

Use the benches along the route to relax, breathe in and soak up the sounds and smells of the wildlife in the ancient woodland.
